Membership Application

1. What are the membership requirements?

  1. To be eligible for membership in the MDRT Center for Field Leadership, an applicant must be a field or home office leader in financial services. For additional information on how we define a “field leader” or "home office leader," please see the details below:

    1. Home Office Leader:

      1. Any person in an executive management position whose primary responsibility is to lead the corporation’s field leaders and sales force recruiting, training and development programs such as a Chief Agency Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Distribution Officer, Chief Learning Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Recruiting Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Training Officer or Chief Underwriting Officer.

    2. Field Leader:

      1. Any person whose primary responsibility is to provide strategic leadership and operational management of a financial services firm or agency, such as an Agency Director, Agency/Branch/Unit Manager, Agency Office Manager, General Agent, Managing Partner or Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction.

      2. Any person whose primary responsibility is to recruit, select, train, supervise, or coach financial services advisors, such as an Agency/Firm Owner, Agent Supervisor, Managing Director or Sales Manager.

      3. Any noncommissioned specialist who plays a critical role in field leadership teams, such as a Compliance Officer, Equity Specialist, Marketing Director, Recruiter, Sales Support Specialists or Trainers.

  2. To be eligible, an applicant must agree to adhere to the MDRT Center Code of Ethics.

  3. To be eligible, an applicant cannot have an existing ethics violation on file with MDRT, the MDRT Center for Field Leadership or the MDRT Academy.

What are the annual membership dues?

Annual membership dues are an investment of USD 600. If you join after April 1, there is an additional USD 200 late fee.

Is there a deadline to apply for membership?

Annual, open enrollment for membership is November 1 – April 1. Applicants may apply for membership after April 1 with the payment of an additional USD 200 late fee. No applications are accepted for the previous year after December 31.

Do I have to renew my membership each year?

Membership is granted for one year and requires annual renewal to remain an active member. Anyone who joins as a 2025 member will retain access until the 2026 open enrollment closes on April 1, 2026. We extend a brief grace period until mid-April. As a result, all 2025 members will retain access to our website, resources and continue to receive our newsletters until April 15, 2026.

Are my membership dues refundable?

Once membership is approved, dues are non-refundable. All fees collected for MDRT Center membership will be refunded if the application is denied.

Can a membership be transferred to someone else?

Membership is to the individual. If a member leaves their company, their MDRT Center membership goes with the member. There is no possibility to transfer membership to another leader within a given company.

Additionally, membership cannot be transferred to another association within MDRT’s Family of Brands.

How long does it take to complete an online membership application?

If you have all the necessary information, the membership process should take less than 5 minutes.

How will I receive my MDRT Center membership certificate?

Upon successful completion of your MDRT Center membership application, you will immediately receive an onboarding email highlighting your membership benefits. Two days later, you will receive a digital member welcome kit with your digital membership certificate.


General FAQs

How can I apply for an MDRT Culture of Excellence Award?

MDRT Center for Field Leadership members may apply for an MDRT Culture of Excellence Award by submitting agency data related to the following areas: production, retention, recruitment, persistency, Whole Person, and MDRT/MDRT Academy membership. Please visit our awards page for additional information.

Please note, award applicants must be an MDRT Center member in the year corresponding to the award criteria data. For example, to apply in January 2024 for the 2024 MDRT Culture of Excellence awards, you must have been a 2023 MDRT Center member as the criteria for the awards were based on 2023 data.

What is the deadline for submitting an MDRT Culture of Excellence Award application?

Award applications may be submitted from January 8 through March 15.

Am I eligible to attend the MDRT Annual Meeting or Global Conference?

As a member of the MDRT Center, you are eligible to register for the MDRT Annual Meeting or MDRT Global Conference, one meeting per year. Your MDRT Center login credentials will enable you to register when the meeting is open for registration.

What member benefits are included in the MDRT Center?

MDRT Center member benefits include on demand access to a plethora of leadership content (videos, articles, toolkits, etc.) available on our website, regular webcasts, access to Harvard ManageMentor®, study groups with fellow members, eligibility to register for the MDRT Annual Meeting or MDRT Global Conference (one meeting per year), and the opportunity to apply for an MDRT Culture of Excellence Award.

How do I join a study group?

Please email info@mdrtcenter.org with your name, MDRT ID and time zone. One of our team members will reach out to you with more information.

How do I join an MDRT Center webcast?

Prior to each webcast, you will receive an email notifying you of the webcast topic with steps to register. Once you register, you have the option to add the webcast to your calendar.

  1. Log in to mdrtcenter.org with your MDRT Center login credentials

  2. Go to our Resources page

  3. Scroll down to the “Webcasts” section

  4. Click on “Register for Upcoming Events”

  5. The next screen will list all upcoming webcasts

Is MDRT Center offered in additional languages?

The MDRT Center is currently available in English only.

How do I know if I successfully joined as an MDRT Center member?

Upon successful membership application completion, you will automatically receive:

  • An onboarding email with your membership receipt

  • You will also be able to use your login credential to log in to mdrtcenter.org

Two days after joining, you will receive a digital member welcome kit.

If you did not receive an onboarding email and are unable to log in to mdrtcenter.org, you did not successfully complete your membership application. Please visit our Join page to complete your membership application.

If I’m a current MDRT member, may I join the MDRT Center for Field Leadership?

Yes, if you are a leader in financial services, you may join the MDRT Center for Field Leadership. You would need to complete membership applications for both associations, MDRT and the MDRT Center. Similarly, MDRT Academy members who are also leaders may join the MDRT Center by completing a membership application for the MDRT Center.

Credly

  1. Who is Credly? Credly is the end-to-end solution for issuing and managing digital credentials. Credly works with credible organizations to provide digital credentials to individuals, worldwide. MDRT Center has partnered with Credly to issue our verified membership badge.

  2. Do I have to create an account with Credly? If you want to claim and share your membership badge with your social network, you do need to create an account. Creating an account is required to maintain badge standards and verify you earned the badge.

  3. Does my Credly account need to be public? No, you are free to make your profile or an individual badge private. However, private profiles and badges are not verifiable.
